Week 9/26-9/30

Happy Friday!
This week in my web 2.0 class we focused on twitter and how its useful for not only just being socially connected but also in knowing information and maybe even job opportunities. This lead to an "e-portfolio". I had an idea of what that was at first but I wasn't aware of all the stuff that followed. Its a really great way to keep your information together as well as being ahead of others and having your resume/working experience with just a click of a button away. While working on my portfolio today, I know I would highly consider continue using it throughout my career and college life. Still barely getting my feet in the water about it but I recommend it to anyone and everyone trying to step ahead of others.
Have a good weekend!

Modern Day Job Hunting

This video summarized shortly, what an e-portfolio is and it showed some reasons why it would be useful to have one. It saves time and it helps the environment. Its also useful for easy connection with others around the world.

this website guided me through the do's and dont's of finding a job through social media. You really have to be careful with your "digital tattoo" now a days.

This website gave me the beginning tips to finding a job online and some places to look. It told me about "LinkedIn" and therefore I created my own. All in all, these 3 resources kept me informed of ways I can connect myself to jobs through social media and ways to keep myself professional but organized.

week 9/19-9/23- HOMECOMING!

This week was homecoming week! The whole week had the school spirit with the tension of Powder Puff and the homecoming events. Personally, I wasnt going big about the week but I think my favorite part was the powder puff game. I didnt work that evening so I was able to attend the game and although my Junior class lost it was very exciting and fun to watch and cheer for.
This week, I learned about Mark Zuckerberg and his contribution to Facebook. It really has made an impact in the world and our social society. Not only did he make me think about what a huge difference it makes to the worl but he also is another example of someone who achieved his goal by never giving up. It makes me walk with my head a little higher, making sure nobody tries to take me down. Follow your dreams.

Week 9/6-9/9

This week I got adjusted to the class feel and what will be happening in here. The most interesting thing I learned this week was the "Digital Tattoo". I thought it was the most interesting because the whole synopsis about each one of having a "tattoo" online really makes you think about what you post online and what people might perceive you as. Another thing I learned about was the whole blogging experience and how much you can accomplish with one .

Blogging Video

I chose this blog because it gives you some interesting tips about what a blog even is. These people have a blog of their own and it shows how they use puppets to incorporate their blogs. It shows that you can do pretty much anything to catch people's attention and just have fun discussing something with a friend or just by yourself. It also uses humor which is a good way to attract readers. All in all, this video gave me some blogging ideas and it also connected me to the rest of their blogs which I enjoy watching =]

My Digital Tattoo

A digital tattoo is like your digital identity. It is what someone who researches your name online sees. Its like a tattoo because it is an expression of oneself. It is made by you and what you post and also by what people post about you.
A way to protect or manage your digital tattoo is by looking what people see when they search your name through some websites like http://www.google.com/ or http://pipl.com/. Two other good websites I found were http://www.spokeo.com/ and http://www.reputation.com/, in the first one you can see what you are searched as and in the second one you can control your "digital tattoo"
Learning about the digital tattoo really made me think about what I post on the internet. I never thought one little comment could somehow haunt you later in life. It also can help you but you just have to be very careful when you post something or say something. From here on out, I probably will be a lot more careful than I used to be. I need a good looking "digital tattoo" ;)

Web 2.0

Coming into the class I didnt know what I was in for. I just needed to find a first period class and having taking keyboarding before I thought this one might be interesting. My first day was a little overwhelming because I came in the 4th day of class and everyone was already started with the assignments. So I am still a little behind but after reading the syllabus and the board of assignments I'm looking forward to learning more of the "web 2.0" experience.
