Using Web 2.0 Tools!

Okay so recently I have just been expanding my web 2.0 tools and learning more things through the internet vi-rally.The class is coming to an end and all the things I have learned I haven't really been using, to be honest. But yesterday I was in my Spanish class working on a power point project with a partner and we realized that we weren't going to able to work on it together so we were stuck in a dilemma of what to do. After sitting and just thinking for a while I remember a tool that I learned in my Web 2.0 class about being able to work on a document with someone that is not in the same room with you through gmail. I just heard a "ding" in my head and let my partner know! Right away we began the sharing of the power point presentation and began working on it on separate computers. Knowing these web 2.0 tools really will come in handy in the future. Thanks Mr.Halvorsen!

My Avatar

This morning I walked into class to find out that we are going to make a self avatar. At first, I wasn't to excited about it but after visiting http://voki.com/ I enjoyed making my own. I went to the simple options and just played around with it at first and decided to make the Avatar to make it look most like me, in a way. The background is definitely not where I am but it is where I'd like to be.Check it out!

Week 10/3-10/7

This week the main thing I learned today was the "end of an era" topic. It really made me think about what a difference one person can make in the world. Another thing I learned was the LinkedIn usage and how it is a great resource to have in the future, as well as now, being a step ahead. I created my own account for my future resources and plan on keeping it updated for future job posts because I know that it will make me stand out as a young person in the business industry. Finally, we continued "tweeting" . It is a great source of knowing things and also getting your word out. Lets see what this week has in store!

'End of an era': Apple co-founder Steve Jobs remembered
I just read this article on MSNBC.com and really learned about Steve Jobs and his legacy.
I actually wasn't aware of who he was until his death. I think it was interesting how he grew up with many interesting aspects. First, he was adopted. Second, he was a college dropout, and many others. Jobs seems to me like a stubborn but intelligent man. "A control freak" the article said. I think him being the way he is got him his success. Going through life struggles, like cancer and sicknesses kept him going. Something like a disease, should only make you strive harder, and this showed in Jobs career. I guess all his other businesses and jobs lead him to where he is right now. Jobs wanted to create the technology life ten times better and that's exactly what he did. In my own experience, when his products came out its all I ever wanted. I would have to earn good grades and ask my parents every holiday that I wanted an Apple product. It changed me because I loved the product once I had it and it was fascinating to see what one brain can come up with.

I think the future of the technology has only begun. With one era closing another is beginning. With Jobs' span of ideas and creations, many other products can now be developed and improved. Thanks to him, we have somewhere to start from and only continue. I believe, there is many other ideas waiting to be sprouted. Jobs is an example of one's capability and way of growing. If we can think it we can achieve it. "Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water or do you want a chance to change the world?" –Steve Jobs.

Week 9/26-9/30

Happy Friday! 
This week in my web 2.0 class we focused on twitter and how its useful for not only just being socially connected but also in knowing information and maybe even job opportunities. This lead to an "e-portfolio". I had an idea of what that was at first but I wasn't aware of all the stuff that followed. Its a really great way to keep your information together as well as being ahead of others and having your resume/working experience with just a click of a button away. While working on my portfolio today, I know I would highly consider continue using it throughout my career and college life. Still barely getting my feet in the water about it but I recommend it to anyone and everyone trying to step ahead of others.

This website gave me the beginning tips to finding a job online and some places to look. It told me about "LinkedIn" and therefore I created my own. All in all, these 3 resources kept me informed of ways I can connect myself to jobs through social media and ways to keep myself professional but organized.

week 9/19-9/23- HOMECOMING!

This week was homecoming week! The whole week had the school spirit with the tension of Powder Puff and the homecoming events. Personally, I wasnt going big about the week but I think my favorite part was the powder puff game. I didnt work that evening so I was able to attend the game and although my Junior class lost it was very exciting and fun to watch and cheer for.
This week, I learned about Mark Zuckerberg and his contribution to Facebook. It really has made an impact in the world and our social society. Not only did he make me think about what a huge difference it makes to the worl but he also is another example of someone who achieved his goal by never giving up. It makes me walk with my head a little higher, making sure nobody tries to take me down. Follow your dreams.
